Jackie GaleIn Textile Artist
Jackie is a contemporary textile artist who produces and designs her innovative work from her Plymouth-based studio. She interprets places and themes using a combination of fabrics, recycled materials and a variety of textiles ranging from wire, paper or garden twine to vintage sea charts. The result is fun-filled colourful pictures that are full of interest and fine detail that makes her work unique. She uses layers of fabric and creative stitching methods including applique and free motion embroidery to build interesting quirky scenes. Her love of colour, detail and texture features strongly throughout her work. She also has a great passion for pure Irish linen which is used in every picture, normally as part of the background as it’s beautiful natural weave lends itself perfectly to her work. Nature provides her constantly with inspiration as well as architecture of any origin.
Having recently turned professional, Jackie’s work is already in high demand with gallery outlets and orders growing rapidly including international commissions. She is experienced at teaching and plans to run workshops from her studio in the New Year.
